Day 2: Lima / La Merced (B/L/D)

Breakfast. Transfer from Lima to La Merced via Rock Forest. The rock forest is a major tourist attraction in Peru, for both hiking and sightseeing. It is also an international destination for rock climbers. The formations are sometimes compared to Shilin Stone Forest in China and Garden of the Gods in the US, as these locations are also dramatically eroded landscapes. Then, we will arrive to La Merced. Despite the long distance from Peru’s capital city, Lima, and due to its pleasant weather and exotic scenery, La Merced and its surrounding countryside remains a popular destination for domestic tourists. The surrounding areas of the city feature waterfalls, whitewater creeks, jungle-like forest, tree-covered hills, rivers, traditionally living indigenous tribes, plantations and an abundance of wildlife and species of birds. The economy of the Chanchamayo region relies primarily on tourism, the cultivation and production of coffee, as well as the production of fruits and vegetables such as papayas, oranges, cassavas, avocados, pineapples, and passion fruits.

Day 3: La Merced / Codo del Pozuzo (B/L/D)

The district is located in the Central Jungle and is expanding quickly thanks to the people, the local government and the wide flat territory.
It has a mysterious, exotic and aphrodisiac influence, offering alternatives based on leisure activities such as: hiking, cycling, rafting, canoeing or kayaking, adventure travel by boat, observation of plants and animals, and horseback riding.

Day 4: Codo del Pozuzo / Oxapampa (B/L/D)

Breakfast.Transfer from Pozuzo to Oxapampa. In 1853, as living conditions in Central Europe were poor due to wars and famine, baron Damian Freiherr von Schütz-Holzhausen signed a contract with the Peruvian government to send 10,000 colonists to the virgin area of Alto Huallaga.
In March 1857, a group of 300 Tyrolean and Prussian settlers, consisting mainly of poor peasant families and couples who weren’t allowed to marry in their home countries, boarded the “Norton” to go to Peru. Before starting the journey, the couples were married. After 4 months, the settlers arrived at Callao port in Lima. After two days of quarantine, the settlers took a ship to the port of Huacho, where their belongings were put on mules and men had to continue the journey on foot while women and children were given donkeys to ride on. The journey went from Huancho to Cerro de Pasco, Acobamba and Santa Cruz. On the way, some of the settlers left the group. In 1891, when things were better, a group of colonists from Pozuzo founded the city of Oxapampa (now the capital of the province of same name) and then the town of Villa Rica (both South of Pozuzo).

Day 5: Satipo / Jauja (B/L/D)

Breakfast. Transfer to Jauja via Satipo. The Satipo Province borders the province of Huancayo, Concepción, Jauja and Chanchamayo on the west; Pasco Region’s Oxapampa Province on the north; Atalaya Province in the Ucayali Region on the northwest; and Cusco Region’s La Convención Province on the east and southeast. The Mantaro River marks the province’s border with Ayacucho Region’s Huanta Province on the south and Huancavelica Region’s Tayacaja Province on the southwest.
The first Europeans arrived in the province’s territory in 1673, when the Franciscans founded Santa Cruz, their first settlement in the area.
Many Indian uprisings happened during the 18th century.
