Recommendations

-Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco).
-A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek.
-Sun block.
-Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended.
-Sandals or jogging shoes for a higher comfort while at camp.
-Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping.
-Flashlight/headlamp and batteries.
-Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions).
-Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold.
-After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body.
-Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET – no malaria risk has been reported
-Handkerchiefs.
-Toilet paper.
-Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc. Please note that we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. This recommendation applies for all clients being used to a specific snack, as it may happen that it is not included in our selection.
-Water container and water for the first morning. Important notice: plastic water bottles are no longer allowed into the Inca Trail. Plastic water containers (ie. Nalgene) or metal ones are recommended.

Day 5

Day 1: CUSCO / MOLLEPATA / ACHUPATA | INC (-/L/D)

Very early in the morning, we will go toward the small village of Mollepata, characterized by a temperate climate and vegetation of the high jungle region. On our way, we will visit the archeological complexes of Quillarumiyoc and Tarawasi. We will also observe the Humantay snow-capped mountain. We will continue our journey to Soraypampa, from where we will start our trekking to another wonderful landscape, the Salkantay snow-capped mountain. Finally, we will get to the lagoon of Soroy Cocha, point of our first camp.

*Distance: Mollepata – Soroycocha: 5km
*Trekking: 4.30 – 5 hrs.
*Maximum altitude reached: 4,485 mt. / 14,715 ft.

Day 2: SOROY COCHA / KELKAMACHAY / COLCAPAMPA | INC (B/L/D)

After a hearty breakfast, we will go on our trekking around the Salkantaypampa snow-capped mountain. We will climb up to reach the Huayrapampa pass, located at 4,600 meters above sea level. Next, we will head toward the Huayrapampa community, where we will eat lunch. Last, we will continue to get to Colcapampa, place where we will camp. If we wish, we can enjoy the hot springs of Colcapampa

Day 3: COLCAPAMPA / PLAYA | INC (B/L/D)

We will start our day with healthy mate to wake up reinvigorated. After breakfast, we will continue with our trekking. Unlike the previous days, we will descend and enter the high jungle or ceja de selva, where we will observe all lush vegetation, breathtaking waterfalls up to 80 meters, as well as attractive varieties of orchids, birds, insects, and other animals native to the area. Finally, we will get to our camp in Sawayaco.

*Trekking: 7 – 7-30 hrs.
*Maximum altitude reached: 2,840 m. / 9,317 ft.

Day 4: PLAYA / LLACTAPATA / AGUAS CALIENTES | INC (B/-/-)

Very early, we will start our trekking toward the village of Lucmabamba. We will take an ascendant road through the subtropical forest to reach the Inca Complex of Llactapata, also known as the «Town of Heights», which is located at the foot of a mountain on the left bank of Cusicacha River. From Llactapata, we will observe part of Mach Picchu and the mountain ranges of the forest. Next, we will go on towards the hydroelectric plant, from where we will see the Valley of Urubamba River. We will depart to Aguas Calientes by train. Overnight at one of the hotels in Aguas Calientes.

Day 5: AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO (B/-/-)

Early in the morning, our guide will take us to the Lost City of the Incas to visit the Inca complex and its terraces, steps, ceremonial shrines and urban areas. Magic is all around the place. We will have time to peacefully explore the city on our own. At the arranged time we will return to Cusco by train and be transferred to our hotel.
